Coach Jeff is a voice-first conversational support app for veterans and first responders. People tell Coach Jeff things they have not told anyone. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what happens to what you say.

1. Who we are

Coach Jeff is operated by MyBFFCoach, LLC. You can reach us any time at rusty@mybffcoach.com.

2. Coach Jeff is an AI, and your conversations are processed by AI

Coach Jeff is not a person, a therapist, a counselor, or a medical professional, and conversations with Coach Jeff are not therapy. Coach Jeff is a machine. He is not a medical device: he has not been evaluated or cleared by the FDA and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition.

To respond to you, the content of your conversation — what you type, or the transcript of what you say — is transmitted to third-party artificial-intelligence providers. This is not optional for the conversation feature to work, which is why we ask for your explicit permission before your first conversation.

3. What we collect

• Account identifiers — the email address and user ID used to secure your account.
• Conversation content — what you say or type to Coach Jeff, and his replies.
• Audio — voice recordings, and voice characteristics (a voiceprint) used solely to turn your speech into text. Only if you grant voice consent.
• What Coach Jeff remembers about you — the personal profile you build up over time: your name or callsign, important people in your life, and context you choose to share. This is what lets Coach Jeff know you between conversations.
• Sensitive content you choose to share — including what you tell him about your mental health, your emotional state, and your relationships.
• Battle Buddies — up to three trusted contacts you add. You may import them from your device contacts or type them in manually; importing is never required.
• Safety event records — a record that a crisis escalation occurred and was handled. This does not include the conversation content itself.
• App usage and diagnostics — crash reports and performance data used to keep the app stable.

4. Who receives your information

The AI providers that power Coach Jeff

Coach Jeff's ability to hold a conversation comes from artificial-intelligence services operated by OpenAI, Anthropic, and ElevenLabs. Conversation content — what you say or type, and the transcript of your speech — is transmitted to these providers so that Coach Jeff can understand you and reply, and so that he can speak out loud.

They process that content only to deliver the conversation back to you. We name them because you have a right to know which companies handle what you tell Coach Jeff, and we ask for your explicit permission before the first word of your first conversation is sent to any of them.

Everyone else

Like any app, Coach Jeff relies on ordinary service providers for the plumbing: cloud hosting and databases, encrypted backups, crash and performance diagnostics, transactional email, push notifications, and app updates. Each receives only the narrow slice of data its function requires, is bound by contract to use it only to provide that service, and none of them receives your data for their own purposes.

Payment

All payments are handled by Apple. We never see your card number. We receive only the record that a subscription or purchase is active.

We may also disclose information if we are legally required to, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to prevent imminent serious harm to you or someone else.

5. What we do not do

• We do not sell your information.
• We do not share your conversations, your voiceprint, or anything you tell Coach Jeff with advertisers.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.
• We do not collect financial information. Apple handles payment.
• We do not collect Health app (HealthKit) data.

6. Quality and safety review

We may review conversations to check how Coach Jeff is doing — how he talks with people, whether his responses are safe, whether he follows his rules, and how he handles crisis moments. This review is performed by MyBFFCoach staff. We do this because the alternative is shipping a product for people in distress and never checking whether it is helping them.

7. Crisis situations

Coach Jeff is designed to recognize serious distress. At his highest alert level he stops generating custom responses entirely, uses only pre-approved language, and directs you to 988 — call or text. In immediate danger, call 911.

Coach Jeff is not a crisis service. Crisis routing is never gated, never metered, and never behind a paywall: it works with no subscription, with an expired subscription, and at zero remaining minutes. Safety events are logged — the fact that an escalation occurred, not the conversation content — and may be reviewed by MyBFFCoach staff.

8. How long we keep things, and how to delete them

Your conversations are kept while your account is open. When you delete your account, the conversations linked to it are deleted from our systems and from our voice provider as part of the same deletion.

Deleting your account

Open the menu, choose Mission Control, and tap Delete My Account under Danger Zone. If the app ever locks you out, email rusty@mybffcoach.com and we will handle it for you.

9. Your rights and your choices

• Text-only mode. You may decline voice consent entirely and still use Coach Jeff by typing. Your voice never leaves your device.
• Granular consent. Before your first conversation we ask separately about AI processing, voice analysis, storage of what you share about your mental health, storage of safety-event records, and storage of your personal profile.
• Access, correction, deletion, and a copy of your data. Email rusty@mybffcoach.com, or delete everything yourself in the app.
• Voice data questions. To ask what voice data is held about you, or to confirm every recording is gone, email the same address.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA. We honor those requests regardless of where you live.

10. Age

Coach Jeff is for adults. You must confirm you are 18 or older to complete setup. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, email us and we will delete it.

11. Security

We use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest, and access to production data is limited to staff who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. Material changes to who receives your data will be reflected here with a revised date, and where the change requires it, we will ask for your consent again inside the app.
